Oh mai... This is new...

"Yeah... Though I still can't believe that fluffy kid is almost my age. You're nowhere near as bad as him when it comes to seeming young," Shay grumbled, then added, "Don't get me wrong, he's nice, but it's almost insulting to know we were the same age not long ago." He managed a slight smile, more like a twitch of his lips, that hunted at an attempt at humor. Then he quieted and adjusted the collar of his plain white button-up shirt.

"I guess you're right.." Alpha let himself smile a little, before he told Shay, "He was introduced to the Devas when he was about 15, I think. Give or take. That was around when Lucas was still in power, with Roy as second-in-command. There was a Monster Wolf attack at their house (he lived with the Barnaby's and Winnie back then), and Roy had injured his wing."

"You sure he doesn't lie about his age?" Shay joked, getting up to get the bottle of pain medicine he had brought with the food. He took out two pills, back to seriousness as he said, "Since you ate, you can now have these. You might not really be hurting yet, but you'll be grateful for these as the stuff for the IV wears off more."

"I'm pretty certain." Alpha replied, before taking the pills from Shay, "Thank you... Do you have water? I can't really down them dry." The hybrid felt some discomfort, but he knew it would get worse as the painkillers via the IV started to wear off.

"Yeah, here. Use the juice I brought," Shay suggested, indicating the orange juice on the tray, "You could use the blood sugar, anyway. I imagine if you tried to stand up right now, you'd fall over." So if Alpha needed to use the bathroom or just stretch his legs anytime too soon, he would need a little help or at least supervision, especially with the hurt ribcage making him even more unsteady.

"That's why I'm not bothering to get up, until I really need to." Alpha replied, before downing the pills with the juice. He wasn't the biggest fan of orange juice, but he needed the blood sugar, and he was indeed thirsty. So, he sipped at it, now feeling better than he had been before. "You won't have to worry."

"Well, I won't worry if you be sure to let me help you when you need to get up," Shay decided, taking a seat in his chair again. He was getting a little bored, which was why he was much chattier than normal at the moment.

"Alright, alright.... I will." Alpha said, putting his hands up in mock surrender after putting the cup back on the table next to his bed. The tray with his food had also been put on there, and was mostly eaten, but the hybrid was full.

Deciding he was satisfied with how much Alpha ate, Shay decided that there would be no nagging. Instead, he leaned his elbow against the arm of the chair and propped his head against his palm. He was quiet for a moment, then spoke again, "I don't really talk to people much... sorry if I either sit here silently or ask stupid questions. Can't really help it." He felt like he needed to at least talk to the hybrid, give him some interaction and show relative interest in his life, but he was terrible at conversations.

"I think we're both in the same boat. I'm not exactly the one for social interactions, either. So it's not a big deal." Alpha shrugged his shoulders a little, "You don't have to apologize." You're also opening up, which is nice I guess.... "And those weren't really stupid questions. Just curiosity."

Shay shrugged one shoulder, mumbling, "I used to think all questions were stupid..." He then crossed his legs as he sat lazily in his chair, trying to seem as aloof as possible. He then asked, "Well... I've been asking you questions, I guess it's only fair if I let you ask one, or at least help choose a topic of discussion."

Alpha thought for a moment, before asking, "Well... I sort of know how you were introduced into the Devas, back in Flare's old camp.... I guess I'll ask you on how you met the Dering sisters, if that's okay? I mean, if it's something you want to tell me."

Long post time. owo)

"Uh, well..." Shay was a bit reluctant to talk about that, but then he sighed, "Laura tells anyone who asks, anyway. She thinks she's defending me or something against negative opinions... anyway, with her big mouth I guess I shouldn't really try to keep it a secret."

He shifted in the chair again, though he was physically comfortable. It was all nerves. "I've always been a pretty individual person... My parents sent me to this really advanced boarding school when I brought it up. It was when I was staying there that the whole end-of-society struck with the Sect's attacks. Some friends and I got out of there before the Sect could decide to make us their newest lab rats, and we lived on the move, trying to find a safe place... We lived like that for a while, always on the move, but then one day a Sect patrol caught up to us. We tried outrunning them, but it seemed hopeless..."

His voice faded a moment, but then he continued, "I was pretty weak at the time, too weak to be able to fly long enough to actually get away. We hadn't had enough to eat, and it was cold... you remember how long that winter was, right? Anyway, one of the others of the group had an idea to allow most of us to get away... He waited until I caught up with the group, then he pulled out his pocketknife and stabbed me with it. He told me sacrifices needed to be made for the better of the group as a whole, and then he left. The others were too scared for their own lives to try to help me after that. They all ran away... I was soon the center of attention, and was attacked by the patrol. Somehow, though, I managed to escape in my desperation... I don't even really remember that part much. I just remember falling down in the snow, badly wounded, and then when I came to the Dering sisters were there. They've kinda taken care of me ever since."

He sat upright, pulling the hem of his shirt up a little to show Alpha a scar on his lower abdomen. "Still got the scar from that damn knife. We didn't have a magic healer with us, since none of us were supernatural, so... I got stuck with a souvenir I'd really rather not have."

Alpha listened quietly, not at all expecting this to have happened. He made a bit of a face at the scar-- it wasn't too bad looking, but it still made his own abdomen hurt. "Aurora...." He breathed, not sure what else to say, but his expression and tone of voice told it all. Maybe I shouldn't have asked... But it makes sense that he doesn't trust a lot of people... It makes a LOT of sense.... 

(FEELINGS!)

"Yeah..." Shay fixed his shirt, shrugging. "It is what it is..." He scratched at his head a little, unable to make eye contact with Alpha, his dark brown gaze instead fixed on the floor. Now he was definitely at a loss for words.

"Alright I'll just come back later then. I had some sketches for Roy to look at for prosthetics but I'll take care of that later." Lance told them and quickly left.

Jonah smiled at her, wishing his chest armor was a bit more...well actually less armor and more chest. He could See Roxy was a little bit uncomfortable but didn't attribute that to just his chest, more to their own awkwardness...he did sorta...

Alpha was quiet, before saying, "I would say sorry.... But it doesn't really do much.... The past is the past, after all. But I understand how you find it hard to trust other people. There is darkness within this world, but light, too. You just have to find it."

Roxy continued to blush a little, as she was leaning against his chest like that. I was uncomfortable, sure, but surprisingly warm, "You're really warm...." She told him-- it was a little over just right, so it was a comfortable warmth, rather than being uncomfortable.

"I'm pyrokinetic." he told her, "Like a living heater."

He smiled at her blushing just a little bit as he did.

Just say it! Holy shit you know you like her!

Not sure how to respond to that rather philosophical comment, Shay made a bit of a face. Then he sighed, "Yeah, I know things won't always be bad, and there are good things... I just need to find a good thing that won't go away again." He was feeling a little glum, which had been his mood for days now, but he was finally letting a little of his sadness and loneliness show.

"O-oh yeah.... Right...." She forgot about that, and smiled a little sheepishly, "I'm not complaining."

Alpha noticed that Shay's wall was crumbling. He showed the sadness the hybrid had not seen before, "Go away again....?" He didn't really know about the entire thing with Celeste, so this was news for him. "What do you mean by that...?"

"Clearly." he said laughing a little bit resting his head atop hers again.

"Yeah...." Blushing again, she pressed up against his side again, more drawn to him and the warmth, rather than the literal comfort of his body.

Jonah yawned out of the blue, "Damn I'm tired..."

His eyes started to get heavy like he'd fall asleep with Roxy laying on his chest like this just staring and watching the sunset...which he realized it was starting too.
