Oh mai... This is new...(2)

"I um.....I had a nightmare..."she admitted. Her pride was hurt, but she felt like Jayden would comfort her and make her feel better so she didn't care if her pride was hurt. She just wanted to be cuddled and maybe kissed on the forehead. She wanted to feel safe. She grabbed her tail and held it in on of her hands.

It took Jayden a second to realize what she just said.... He was in the middle of rubbing at his face, and his hand dropped to his side when it sunk in. His eye widened a little as he sat more upright, before shifting over so she could sit down, "You had a nightmare...?" This was a little strange for Jayden, as Flare never went to him before.... But he was glad she was getting comfort for what happened, "Sit.... Do you wanna talk about it....?" He was also aware that he wasn't wearing his prosthetic and was without a hand, but he didn't bother thinking about to put it on.

Stone's face went red again at the little squeeze Scotty gave him, and he almost froze up, but the hybrid recovered enough to not make a fool out of himself, "I know... thank you, again..." He smiled a little up at him, before letting the sheep go so he could stand back and away from Scotty, even though there was a very small part of him that didn't want to let go.

Aaron watched Nani a little curiously, confused as she let go of him, before understanding after a moment... he was silent until she came back and took off the little white apron  and grabbed his hand again. He felt a little warm underneath her gaze, but he tried to ignore it, and it wasn't really that hard... "Where are we going...?"

"Chaaao...." Bebe hugged Tina's face in her characteristic gesture of affection. The heart appeared over her head again as she clung to the otter's head, perfectly happy to act like a mask.

Scotty smiled, glad that Stone was feeling better, "No problem, Benjy! Es there anything you need help weth? I've feneshed weth my room." He pushed his messy, curly wool out of his face, his somewhat oblivious expression returning to his face as the serious moment passed.

"Out," Nani responded simply, a smile curving her lips as she led him out of the infirmary, his hand grasped firmly in hers. She eagerly moved down the hallway, heading for an exit so they could emerge out into the open air. Outside, there were vegetable gardens, greenhouses, and various other useful structures. The ocelot walked right past everything, though she gave a friendly smile to those she passed.

She rather purposefully led Aaron over to a tree a distance away from the commotion. The branches were laden with flower buds and little leaves, thanks to springtime finally coming on strong. Nani smiled up at the tree, then turned to Aaron and pointed upward, "We're going to climb this tree. Follow me." She kicked off her shoes and climbed a short ways up the tree, despite the fact that she was wearing a dress-- either she just trusted Aaron not to look up her skirt or she didn't care. The little feline sat on a thick, sturdy branch, shuffling over so there was room next to her for Aaron to sit. She did everything so purposefully, as though there was a point to climbing a tree that nobody else could see.

Flare sat down next to the fluffy squirrel. She had her tail in both of her hands now. "N-no...I don't want to burden you with it too." she said and rested her head on his shoulder. "Can I sleep with you?" she asked gently.

"Me? No..... My room's finished, too...." Now that the entire thing with Aaron was passing, Stone was starting to become a lot more awkward, especially since he was alone with the much bigger sheep. The hybrid ended up playing with his hair a little, not sure what to do now, but he had to keep his hands busy anyway, "We could just relax you know..."

Confused, but not objecting, Aaron followed after Nani.... He trusted her. And not a lot of people gained his trust very well. It took him a second to understand that they were going outside, and the feeling of the sun on his face and the fresh air that he inhaled distracted him for a second, but not forever. It made him feel a little better, through. 

The panther didn't really look at anyone they passed, but he could feel their confused looks at him. When they stopped, however, was when Aaron looked up to see the tree, and the fact that they were going to climb it, "Climb....?" Confused himself, the panther looked up and watched Nani as she scrambled up the tree, but caught a brief panty shot-- he looked away, his face shooting red, but he forced himself to calm down and follow her after she sat atop a thick branch. Taking a breath, as he hadn't climbed a tree in a while, he followed after her, his shoes still on as he pulled himself up onto the branch Nani was sitting on with somewhat ease. Aaron was going to ask her why she brought him here, but he was sure she would explain it to him shortly.

"Flare, you aren't burdening me.... I want to help you....." Jayden wrapped one of his arms around her shoulders, "However, if you don't want to tell me, that's fine.... But of course, you can sleep with me.... I don't mind, really." He was blushing faintly, not that she could really tell in the darkness.

"Good. Let's go to bed." she murmured. She let go of her tail and it wrapped itself around Jayden. She also didn't care if Jayden said no, she was going to cuddle his fluffy chest. She wanted to rest her head on something fluffy and soft, Jayden's chest was the closest thing to that.

(Even when she gets scared she will always love JayJay's chest XD

"Alright, if you're sure...." After he and Flare got comfortable under the covers, Jayden was still blushing, but it went even darker when Flare pressed her face against his chest, like she usually would. The squirrel could feel the weight of her head against it as he breathed up and down.... But he didn't push her off because she needed him. His arms wove around him, one being without a hand, but he was already starting to doze off again, still exhausted.

Eventually Flare went to sleep on his chest. The bit of smoke came out of her mouth and she kept Jayden nice and warm. She didn't have another nightmare and after a while she started to purr in her sleep.

"Alright, laddy..." Scotty agreed, taking a seat on the couch. He was ever the chatty one, though, and began running his mouth like usual, "Tomorrow I start work on the gardens, sence I grew up on a farm and know about growen' plants. Gonna grow vegetables and herbs, and see ef I can't get some begger things growing.

Nani sat comfortably on the branch, reaching over to take one of Aaron's hands again. She smiled at him, glad he had come out with her, and asked softly, "Do you feel a little better?" Her gaze wandered to the distance as she admired the view, though she seemed to be a little lost in thought as she began to explain why they were in the tree, "When I was a child, I got very sick, with frequent infections in my lungs... My family lived in the city at the time, because my mother had a rather important job in a large company. My doctor suggested that I get out of the city for some time until my health improved, or the infections would persist... My mother couldn't leave her job, so my father decided to take me to our family's little vacation home out in the country..."

She pulled Aaron's hand a little closer, grasping it almost protectively as she continued, "I missed my mother, and my siblings... I only had one person with me there every day... my father. He used to take me outside when I felt lonely or sick, and he would carry me as he climbed up the peach tree that grew next to the house... and something about being in that tree felt a little less lonely... maybe because he was with me, and I knew he was the person who cared most. He dropped what he was doing with his life, his job, everything..."

She returned her gaze to him, "And you seemed so sad and lonely, I thought you needed someone to take you up into a tree and remind you that someone does care... that even if you only have one person with you, that one person may care enough for a hundred people. Just like my father did for me."

The healers kept peeking in at Aaralyn as the child sat with Chase... they were a little surprised by how firm she was about staying with him. None of them bothered her, and Sasha avoided getting near her again, just stopping by occasionally to check on Chase before leaving again. It was awfully quiet in the room for quite a long time, until a long-awaited sound came from the canine laying in the bed... Chase groaned, lifting a hand and draping it over his eyes, "Aaaowww..."

"Chase you're awake!" Aaralyn said happily. She had seen Chase wag his tail sometimes so now her own tail was wagging like she was a dog.

(Aaralyn is totally learning things from Chase XD)

"Mmmn...?" Chase lowered his hand, opening his eyes and squinting over at the child, "Aaralyn...?" Since when was she here? And where was he...? What exactly happened? He could vaguely remember a shadow falling over him, but his memory stopped there.

"I'm so glad you're awake. Everyone was so worried..." she said. She gently hugged Chase.

Stone went to sit down as well, and only nodded a little in response to Scotty. The hybrid didn't know a lot about farming or growing plants, so he only took the safe approach to smile and nod through it. The sheep seemed excited about it, though, which was nice to see.

(Aaaaaaaand FEELS! *dies* And it's probably even worse because Aaron grew up without a permanent father figure.... All of his mother's boyfriends were never permanent....

Aaron looked at Nani a little curiously as she went to take one of his scarred hands. They were stained with the blood that he could only see, and the kind that would never, ever go away, even until the day he died. He didn't know how to answer Nani's question, as he really didn't know.... But it wasn't the tree that made him feel a little better. However, when Nani started to explain why she brought Aaron up here, the said panther just sat quietly, listening and absorbing her words. He had to admit, they hurt a little and were close to home, as he never really had a man to call 'Dad', not once in his life. But, it was good to know that Nani's father cared so much for the ocelot, it almost replaced the churning feeling in his stomach and chest.... Almost. 


Nani's last words were ones that stuck out and Aaron didn't know how to take them. His ears were angled back again as he didn't look at her for a second, but his much bigger hand tightened around her, as if she would let go of it herself and jump from the tree.... He didn't know how to take her words.... A feeling of ice through his veins and heart caused him to shiver a little, and he raised his free hand to his face, almost horrified to find himself crying, albeit silently. When was the last time he cried? The panther could scarcely remember, but would now count? He looked farther away from Nani, not wanting to see him crying like a little kid.

Confused, Chase draped an arm around Aaralyn, one hand resting on her head so he could comfortingly smooth her quills. I barely remember what happened... where's everyone else? Are they alright? Whatever hurt me could've gotten them, too... He looked down at Aaralyn, asking, "Am I the only one that got hurt...?"

Nani didn't move her gaze from Aaron, even when he tried to hide the fact that he cried... I won't look away from you when you try to hide your pain. That's what everyone else does, but I won't. I won't ignore you. She release his hand, but only for the sake of having hers free so she could reach over to grasp his chin, turning his head back towards her. "Hey... don't do that. Everyone lets you hide, and settles to ignore you, but I won't do that... I won't turn away from you, ever..."

It just wasn't fair... Aaron had endured the same kind of thing as Shiloh and Phillip, and everyone who was forced to serve the Sect. Sure, he was a bit of a prickly person, but that didn't mean everyone should ignore the fact that he was frightened and hurting after his experiences. It just wasn't fair at all.

Aaron wasn't really able to stop himself from crying... He was calming down a little, sure, but when Nani gently grabbed his chin and moved his head so that he was looking at her again, it just caused him to break down even more. It was her words, however, that moved him the most. He let out a shaky breath, and let his composure and guard down, for the first time in years, even... Normally, people ignoring him didn't bother him, but he was starting to get fed up, as it just made his heart smaller and smaller and unable to love or give back. It was tearing him apart.

"It's okay..." Nani murmured, gently wiping at his face and brushing his hair back as he helplessly started breaking down there and then. She was glad he was at least letting it out, instead of having it fester and make his outlook on life even worse. "You're okay... just let it out and take a breath. It's good for you to let it out, you'll feel better afterwards..."
