Aaron didn't really hear was Nani was saying because he was so distracted from his helpless, childish crying. It was strange to hear his voice, the irregular and shuddering breath from his chest as he failed to speak-- it was almost like he was listening to a new language of some kind. 

He didn't know how long he had been going for, but his shuddering shoulders started to calm down, with him quieting and slowly stopping. His breath still hitched in his throat, and he threatened to cry again, but he was slowly starting to develop some control again.... His mind was clearing a little, and he felt lighter than he had in a while, but some shame that he let himself cry like that.... His pride was hurt, but he didn't really care now.

(LOOK AT YOU, FEELING EMOTION! *flails* SOMETHING OTHER THAN ANGER! IT'S AMAZING!

Nani: omo' ... He's not that bad...

Yes. Yes he is.)

Nani smiled at him as he calmed down, and gently rubbed the side of his face with her knuckles as she said, "There, that's a lot better, isn't it?" She lowered her hands, taking one of his again and reminding him, "I know it's not always easy to show your weaknesses to others, but it really does make things better in the end... You just have to find those you want to trust with those weaknesses."

(YES IT IS!

Aaron didn't trust himself to speak right now, as he knew he would sound like a kid going through puberty, which was embarrassing enough as it was. He only nodded a little to Nani's words, and knew exactly what she meant.... The ocelot was the only one that really knew his weakness, and the only one that really cared. He rubbed at his different coloured eyes again, the fur underneath wet and slick from his tears. This definitely didn't end up like he thought, but he almost didn't mind.

(Aaron, deal with it. *flails again* She's helping you!)

Wishing he would say something, Nani gave Aaron a moment of quiet. She just gave his hand a gentle squeeze, hoping he wouldn't be upset about crying in front of her... Men and their pride... It wasn't like she was going to go and tell everyone that she saw him cry. No, that would just be mean.

(YES SHE IS! SSSSSSSH *shoosh paps him* )

It took Aaron another second to fully calm down and to be able to speak. He was looking down at his lap, cleared his throat, before looking up and saying, his voice nothing more than a pitiful whisper, "T-thank you...." His voice died a little in his throat, but that wasn't the point. It took a lot for Aaron to express gratitude like that. He cleared his throat again, but his voice was still weak and frail.

"It's okay... You don't really have to thank me... I'm sorry it got this bad," Nani replied, shifting so she was on her feet, her claws digging into the tree branch as she crouched next to him. She turned and gave him a hug, balancing easily on the branch thanks to her long, spotted tail, and her apparent experience when it came to climbing trees.

(SHIIIIIIIIIP 

NOW KISS! *shoves their heads together* >83 ) 

Aaron's ears were angled back still, but he was relatively calm right now. He watched Nani, not really sure what she was doing at first, but as she crouched before him with her tail high in the air for balance and wrapped her arms around him, it clicked. It took him a second to will himself to move, and he hesitantly wrapped his arms around the smaller ocelot. He partly hid his face against the ocelot's lavender hair, his arms held firmly around her.

(Nani: o//n//o?!?!?!?!)

Gently rubbing Aaron's back, Nani held him close, "You're a very sweet boy, Aaron... I'm very happy I get to see that part of you." She leaned her head against his as he hid his face in her long hair, "You just haven't realized that part of you exists yet... but it's there. I know it is." She turned her head to gently kiss his cheek, her little nose poking against his tear-stained cheek.

(Oh my God.... I was at my grandparents' house, and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked was on TV... And I forgot about Simon getting bitten by a spider that has a neurotoxin that gave him a personality switch... And he became Simone, a Frenchman. And I was sniggering like hell behind my hand because Jeanette was like, "He's so... French."

Relaxing a little as Nani gently rubbed his upper back, he was quiet as he just listened to the ocelot talk. He did find it a little hard to believe that he did have a sweet side, but maybe he did.... He just didn't know what to do with it, really. He kept his face pressed against Nani's, not really wanting to let go, but when Nani pulled away, he looked up a, little confused. The little kiss to his cheek was definitely something he didn't expect, and even though he was still a little upset, his face reddened slightly. "....?" Where did that come? He had no idea.

(Oh gawd, I remember watching that with my sister. XD Poor Brodeurs...

I'm all happy because I just started writing me new book project! I'm on page six already. eue Hell yeah.)

Blushing and giving a cheeky smile, Nani suppressed a girly little giggle at the look on Aaron's face. The ocelot then said cheerfully, "Don't you feel better?" She looked out over the fields again as she perched on the tree branch, "It's such a beautiful day... nobody should be upset on a day like this... Come on, kick off your shoes and let your paws out. Let's just enjoy this afternoon, okay?"

(Oh my God.... I would have been on the floor, dying of laughter, if I was alone. I just can't unsee it anymore. And the fact that their last name means embroidery.... Like, I expected something cool, not fucking embroidery! XD 

Roy, Rachel, and Richard: .... 

They hate me. XD 

Aw, awesome! o7o That's so cool! What is it about?) 

Confused still, Aaron just stared Nani down for a second, before only nodding a little. "Okay...." Some of his voice came back, which was a relief to the panther. Aaron kicked off his shoes, and watched them for a second as they fell to the forest floor and bounced off in two different directions, rolling to a stop. Sighing a little, the panther went to stand on the branch, his claws digging into the bark as he leaned against the trunk, looking like he might teeter off. Because part of his tail was severed, his balance wasn't like it used to be, but the muscles in his legs mostly kept him upright.

The book is about my one character, Sheba, who essentially threw her life away after boyfriend died when she was seventeen. Since she didn't know how to handle grief and loss, she essentially self-destructed, as though the reality of the hardships of life was just too much to handle, and her dysfunctional family was unable to help her. As a result, she became a hateful, irresponsible person, dropping out of high school in her junior year and starting to accept the same pattern of failure that her mother and older sisters are following. This just seems all the more true when she winds up pregnant, and doesn't know who the father is because of her frequent one-night stands.

However, as opposed to the way her mother and sisters react to single motherhood, she begins to take a turn for the better. ouo The story then essentially follows the changes in her as her life takes on meaning for the first time, and she lets go of her childish feelings of anger to accept a new take on life.)

Oh wow.... That sounds really cool. It's not overly flashy and full of battles and shit, but a lot of character development and struggles on the more physiological level. o7o )

Hehe, don't underestimate the way Sheba handles things. Originally, her character was a werewolf, but I'm thinking I'll just translate her into an ordinary person for the sake of the book. But she is violent, quick-tempered, cynical, and pretty much a bomb waiting to go off. XD The book will have some big "OMG" moments when it comes to violence, because Sheba does have violent tendencies in her younger years, but it will focus a lot on the way she changes and accepts the realities of life. ouo

I feel like there aren't enough books out there that do that... I mean, teens are reading all these romance and supernatural and blablabla shit. I feel as though none of it actually has much worth; sure, it's entertaining for a little while, and produces fangirls, but it doesn't make you think. In like all the roleplays on Figment, there are all these characters people make that just irritate me because they fall into the same "romantic fantasy teen" category... and I'm just like, "Well then, I'm going to openly mock them by writing this." XD How else to combat this issue in our literature than to have a character evolve from a "romantic fantasy teen," into an angry violent young adult, and then into a mother with a realistic outlook on life? XD)

(Of course she doesn't mind. But it's still funny..... XD

Huh.... I mean, violence is never the answer, I know, but if it makes the story and is done well, I say go for it. Don't hold back. I'm used to some really gruesome books. o3o" It should give the reader many different types of emotions all wrapped up into once, instead of just one. *shrug* 

Yeah, that's very accurate.... I mean, I love a good love story here and there, but I want violence and shit going on! *flails* But it can be very bland, especially when the trope or species is done over and over again. I mean, I've read some good vampire books (I forget the name and author, but the main protagonist was a girl and she actually had tonic Clonic seizures), but not many. But yes, mock them. Mock them to hell and have character development being shoved down their throats instead of being Mary Sues. Please. I wish you good luck!)

Nani straightened up, grabbing the branch over her head and pulling herself up onto it. Then, just for the sake of it, she hooked her legs around the branch (careful to tuck the skirt of her dress against her legs so it would stay in place), and let herself dangle upside-down. She giggled at Aaron, her long hair hanging down, "Hi again!"

(Cue spider-man kiss... eue

Nani: You guys really want us to kiss, don't you...? >////<')

Yeeeeeeeees. eue And good luck for it being in the first person. I honestly prefer first person over third, as if gives more development and character, so good luck. ouo )

Aaron only watched as Nani scurried up a branch. He also watched as she tucked her skirt under her legs, before giving her a bit of a confused look as she hung upside down, facing him. "....you know, if you shtay upshide down too long, the blood'll rush to your head. I don't want to bring you back to the infirmary unconshioush... Or a concusshion." He was never the one to hand upside down for fun, as he didn't like the feeling of blood rushing to his head. It creeped him out.

"Then I won't stay upside down too long," Nani reassured him, starting to wonder if he ever played and had fun as a child. She pulled herself upright on the branch again, looking down at him, "Well, would you rather do something else, if you're not a fan of playing monkey in a tree?" She stretched out on her belly, sprawled lazily over the branch as she smiled playfully down at him, "I'm going to show you a good day if it kills me, Aaron."

Aaron looked up at Nani, now starting to act more like himself, rather than being the broken teenager from a while ago, "I would rather not be in a tree, to be honest." He would, but he didn't want to risk falling off, "My balance ish shit, and I would rather not want a broken leg from falling off." That, and he didn't want to look like a complete loser if he did fall off and was hanging just from his claws.

Nani started to climb down, "Alright, we can do something on the ground, then." She carefully picked her way down the tree trunk, still barefoot and happy to be that way. Shoes were for days that were too cold or wet for paws-- the ocelot loved the feel of grass under her paw pads and between her toes.
